REPUBLICAN WOMEN OF BOSSIER SCHOLARSHIP

General Information & Guidelines

The purpose of the Republican Women of Bossier Scholarship is to encourage and support women to reach their highest potential by providing some financial assistance to aid them in the furtherance of their education.

The amount of each scholarship shall be $500 per semester and/or year. Being chosen to receive a Republican Women of Bossier Scholarship does not disqualify that same woman from being an applicant or a recipient at a later date.

Applications must be postmarked no later than July 1st of each year to be considered for a scholarship for fall semester.  Applications must be postmarked no later than December 1st of each year to be considered for spring semester scholarship.  Applications should be mailed to:

The name of the selected recipient will be announced in a timely manner.  All applicants will be notified when the selection has been made.

Selection as a recipient of the Republican Women of Bossier Scholarship will be based on information provided by the applicant and a personal interview by the scholarship committee. The applicant’s narrative statement of interest, her plans for the future, as well as demonstrated financial need, will be of most importance in the selection process.

Applicants must fulfill the following initial criteria:

1.  Be a female

2.  Be a high school graduate of a Bossier Parish High School

3.  Be a registered Republican and have some political experience.

4.  Provide a high school transcript showing a GPA of a minimum of 3.5 and a class rank in the
top 10%.  A student already enrolled in college must have a GPA of 3.0.

5.  ACT score of at least 21.

6.  Complete all sections on the application form and be willing to meet with the scholarship
Committee for a personal interview.  FORMS MUST BE TYPED.  IF YOU PREVIOUSLY
APPLIED, YOU CAN JUST UPDATE YOUR APPLICATION.

7.  Final eligibility will be determined after proof of enrollment is provided.

8.  Note: Students pursuing degrees in Government, Political Science, Pre-Law, Law, or media
related subjects will receive highest priority for consideration as recipient of the scholarship.
